TW: beleth's background contains mentions of abuse and murder. please read at your own risk!
Beleth Altair Arius was born on July 23, 1991, on the distant planet Trion, in the small town of Salis, Dicio. Although his parents had plans for him to follow in his father's footsteps and become a humble baker, it didn't take long for the government of Dicio to discover and whisk him away. Although he had no noble blood, the royal family's fortune teller had decided that his impact on the planet's society was too great to leave him in his parents' care. Before he was even old enough to know his own name, he was living in the Drexel family manor, where he would be raised to command the royal guard when he came of age.
Beleth was initially meant to follow around the King and Queen of Trion, Perseus and Hera Drexel. For seven years, he watched intently as the family conducted their business, and began to see Hera as a motherly figure himself (due to the military's actions, he never met his parents). This all changed, however, on 22 March 1998, when he witnessed the loving Queen herself perish at the hands of a trained assassin, who's goal it was to overthrow the monarchy of the nation he loved so dearly. He was horrified when the assassin pushed her body to the side, attempting to focus on the oldest daughter - Pandia (later Jade) - next. Quickly, the young boy jumped on the back of the assassin, pulling them away from her before any real damage was done. Before the assassin could turn their frustration onto him, the current head of the royal guard at the time sprung into action, chasing the assassin away and keeping the two children out of harm's way.
Afterwards, the Kingdom fell into a state of mourning. Beleth's training was halted for some time, as he was given time to process what had occurred on that fateful day. The king was heartbroken, but tried to keep a strong face for the sake of the young child innocently watching him and studying everything he did. Beleth knew, though, that Perseus was shattered. He could never imagine how painful it was to lose a loved one in such a horrific manner. Although he had been told that this was something he could possibly see in the future, to see it so young was jaw-dropping.
Approximately one year later, the King had remarried. This had never been seen before - normally, Trionians had been the type to have one spouse in their lifetime. But this was also a nearly unheard of situation, to lose one's partner so young. Of course, Beleth was but a child, he didn't understand the full repercussions of something like that. He could only think of the fact that the King was in pain, and deserved to be happy.
Over the next three years, he would come to regret treating the new Queen of Dicio with such respect. At first, she seemed okay... Until, that is, when she got a good look at his face one day, and she seemed to have a perpetual scowl on her face from then on. Soon after this interaction, he was ordered to stay away from the Queen at all costs, only spending his time with the King when she was not around. He would catch whispers from her, complaining about everything under the sun. And every time she passed the royal children, one of them would be injured not long after, but the King never seemed to notice - not even when Beleth pointed it out himself. It wasn't until one day when the Prince, Heleus, was nearly killed by her reckless behavior that Perseus finally took it seriously, and went to confront her soon after.
However, he was mysteriously killed soon after by an unknown assailant. With that, Queen Zircon gained sole control over the throne. The royal guard was blasted for their incompetence for leaving him alone long enough for such an act to occur, and nearly disbanded completely.
โ.เณเฟ*:๏ฝฅ adolescence
---
After the King's death, Beleth was nearly kicked out of the royal guard entirely at Queen Zircon's insistence. She claimed as the future leader, it was also his responsibility to ensure the King's safety, and he shared just as much responsibility for the King's death as the person who committed the crime. This was dismissed; however, he was completely barred from talking with the Queen, instead being assigned to work with the Royal Children - Ezrell, Heleus (later James), Jade, Tisiphone, Athena, Milana, and Maple. Beleth was devastated - not only had he lost a strong relationship with the King, but he also lost the job he had been doing since he could walk. It was humiliating and disheartening. However, he decided to give it a shot.
At first, none of the children seemed to have a connection with him, nor he with them. They would rather keep to themselves than chat with him, so any meaningful connections seemed impossible to forge. He stayed closer to the older kids, while the younger ones were handled by a knight hand-picked by the Queen herself. However, in Beleth's opinion, this knight was not very good at his job - especially when the triplets disappeared on their sixth birthday, and were reported to have died from a "childhood illness." Beleth knew very well that this wasn't the case - he had just seen them, and there was no childhood illness! He felt a dark, evil energy emanating from Zircon, and every time she was in the area, he felt like bugs were crawling in his skin and he needed to leave - immediately.
Luckily for him, the oldest daughter, Jade, began spending as much time out of the house as possible, which meant he would be limiting his time with Zircon even more than it already was. He tripped over himself to go with her, every single time, even if they were just going around the corner for five minutes. Any time away from the Queen was a gift. At first, she seemed irritated - why was he so attached to her and eager to leave? She assumed he was just as bad as the rest of them. She would tell him to give her space and leave her alone, and he would happily oblige. She would sometimes even insult him in an attempt to make him go away, but he didn't seem to mind. All he cared about was being away from the chaos of the royal home, and if that meant being insulted, so be it. He was happy to have a space to do his job without such a suffocating presence. Even when angry, the Princess was a refreshing companion to have. But as the days carried into weeks, and the weeks into months, he realized something - he was developing feelings for her. He was horrified. This was not allowed... If anyone found out, it would be his job... Maybe even his life with how ruthless the Queen was! Zircon was such a stickler for "traditional" roles, she would never allow it. Maybe it was better to just ignore the feelings and allow her to find someone else...
One day, something strange happened. She talked to him - actually talked to him! He couldn't believe it. Although he tried to hide it, it was obvious he was jumping for joy. She asked a simple question - "Where should we go today?" After some quiet thinking, he recommended a beautiful oasis nearby that neither of them had been to before. She was surprised - perhaps she had not expected him to know of such a place? - but agreed nevertheless. On the way there, she would ask him questions, and he would respond. It was as if she never wanted him to stop talking. This kind of connection was something he had deeply craved for ages, and he was so thankful to finally receive it.
About a year of this dynamic continued, and Beleth began noticing the signs that the Princess had feelings for him, too. He wondered if anything would even come of this, all for Jade to kiss him one day when visiting a secluded area with just the two of them. Surprised, but also overjoyed at the new development, he kissed her back the way he had dreamed of for so long. After that, the two were inseparable. Wherever one was, the other was sure to be close by. On Jade's fifteenth birthday (her "coming of age ceremony"), the couple revealed their relationship to the general public, alongside James and his "commoner" girlfriend, Maya. Everyone was overjoyed - except for, of course, Queen Zircon, who couldn't take her eyes off the pair all night.
โ.เณเฟ*:๏ฝฅ adulthood
---
Soon after their debut, Jade and Beleth married. She was set to inherit the throne in just three years, and her stepmother's behavior was becoming increasingly alarming. She was becoming violent towards not just Jade, but Beleth as well, and it seemed as though she was trying to find any way to prevent her from reaching power. Talks of escape soon filled the couple's shared room, and her brother James began getting in on the talks as well, hopeful to escape alongside his sister and start anew on a better planet, far away from the turbulence of Trion. Their talks were simply wishful at first, but over time, a plan was formed. Unfortunately, there was a delay - initially planning on leaving on the twins' sixteenth birthdays, this was complicated with both Jade and Maya getting pregnant. Instead, they spent that birthday preparing for a complicated birth on Jade's end (although, it was worth it, with their daughter, Corinthiax, being welcomed into the world on October 2, 2008). Their backup date was March 18, 2009 - what would have been the triplets' 11th birthdays.
Of course, this wouldn't work out, either. On January 15, 2009, an otherwise peaceful night was interrupted suddenly by smoke filling the Royal home, and the escape proved turbulent and cost the life of Maya, James's wife. Everyone was devastated. In the midst of the chaos, Beleth realized that both Ezrell, the oldest, and Maple, the youngest (neither of which were planning on joining) were still inside. He ordered James and Jade to leave without him, and that he wouldn't be far behind. He shared a longing kiss with Jade, in an attempt to reassure her and promise her he would give her another kiss as soon as he arrived on Earth. Unbeknownst to either of them, this would be the last time they would see each other again.
Returning to the manor, he succeeded in freeing Ezrell and directing him to the safety of the neighboring kingdom. Maple, however, did not survive. Beleth was crushed, but before he could grieve, he was captured by Zircon's top guards. Immediately, everything was Beleth's fault - according to the Queen, he was the one who set the fire, causing the death of every royal heir within. Not even allowed to plead his case, he was turned over to a prison cargo ship, where he would likely spend the rest of his life in a prison cell far away from Trion, Earth, or anywhere else he may have known.
Before being sent away, Beleth was able to get ahold of a communicator and send one last message to Jade:
๐.๐๐๐๐๐: Dia, we have a lot of problems. I know I promised I would be right behind you, but I... I was wrong. [ There were tears in his eyes, and he was having a hard time breathing normally from the panic he felt. ] Zirconโs guards found me. Ezrell is safe, heโs running off to Arietes for help, but I donโt think I can make it to Earth, at least not for a good while. . . Iโm so sorry . . . Take care of our little girl for me. Make sure she knows who I am, ๐ฅ๐ก๐๐๐จ๐. . . [ His voice started to get shaky here, the transmission becoming less clear ]. . .
For some time, Beleth was trapped in a dark room, only being opened just enough to deliver food and water once every other day. He wondered if this was it. Was he destined to die here? Would he never even be able to see his daughter one final time? He couldn't handle that idea. He wouldn't go down without a fight - especially when it was all he had ever been taught. He could get out of this situation and rewrite his fate, if he timed it just right...
So he waited, ever so patiently, for his sustenance to be dropped off. The moment the door cracked the tiniest bit, he grabbed the guard's hand, pulling them inside. He was lucky the guard's screams didn't alert anyone else to what was happening, and when the pained cries finally ended, Beleth successfully stole their keys before locking their lifeless body in his prison cell. It wasn't personal, he whispered to them. He just had to get home.
Beleth proceeded to run through the entire cargo ship, quickly realizing he was the only prisoner aboard. He found every crew member, taking them out one by one to avoid being caught. When he finally took out the captain, he was overjoyed. He remembered the coordinates to Earth, and eagerly put them into the system.
TIME TO EARTH: TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY EIGHT YEARS.
This had to be wrong.. It had been less than two months on the ship, certainly they were not already two hundred and seventy eight years from the place he was supposed to call home. Desperately, he put in the coordinates for Trion, wondering if maybe he had just misremembered Earth's location.
It had the same response.
He began to feel hot tears well up as he began hitting the control panel (as if that would change the result). He bit the inside of his cheek to keep from crying. This wasn't right - it couldn't be right, it just couldn't... this HAD to be wrong! But nothing would change the text on the screen. He was so far away, how could he even begin to get home? How could he ever see Jade again? What about Rin? How could he let his daughter grow up without a father the same way he grew up an orphan? Could Jade even handle another loss after everything she had been through?
He had to do something. He had to at least, somehow, give them closure. Maybe he could send messages on Rin's birthday so she knew who he was and that he cared about her. Maybe sending a voice message on their anniversary could help Jade feel closer to him on those hard days. Searching the ship, he realized the communicator's code had been tossed. Scouring his memories, he could only remember half of the code. He felt hopeless. He was just going to disappear, just like that? After everything they had been through together?
No. He had half the code, he remembered it by heart. He had all the time in the world, with enough food to last him a lifetime and nothing better to do. He would try every possible code, every single day, until he cracked it. Every morning, he checked for any responses, and the amount of dead dial tones or no responses he got was disheartening... But not enough to make him stop.
It's been sixteen years now. He's tired. He's sick of the same gruel every day. But he's getting closer - Beleth can FEEL it. He KNOWS it's coming up soon. He'll be able to at least see his beautiful wife and daughter's faces again, even if it is only one last time.
It's the least he could do for the family he called his own.
โ.เณเฟ*:๏ฝฅ what is trion?
---
TRION is a distant planet that has quite a distance from Earth, housing many different kinds of unique life forms. Although the outward appearances of many of these life forms are similar to humans on Earth, there are still many major differences between humans and Trionians. There is a hierarchy at play, although only one Kingdom still follows it currently.
On Trion, race is not seen the same way as it is on Earth. The color of one's skin does not matter one bit, and has no part in how you are identified and treated as on Trion. However, individuals are identified by the color of their eyes. This ancient hierarchy, only still followed by the Kingdom of Dicio, determines the life and profession an individual can have.

โ.เณเฟ*:๏ฝฅ what is the ancient hierarchy?
---
The hierarchy states that the color of one's eyes determines their role in the world. It is as follows:
Red: Servants; the shade of this colour will determine what kind of servant. Pure Red = Military/Bodyguards. Amber = Servants to the Queen
Orange: Bakers; people with this eye colour are the most artistic of the social classes. These are, by far, one of the highest ranks within Trion, and they work closely with the nobles and the royal families within the planet.
Green: Farmers; these people will typically be hardworking and independent, and prefer the companies of animals over people.
Blue: Teachers; blue-eyed individuals are quite willing to please people, although they will do it with the best interest of the kingdom before seeing them smile. This is why they work well with children.
Purple: Noted for its regal associations; only direct descendants of royalty will have this hue. People with violet eyes are typically able to negotiate well, but are good in leadership roles.
Pink: Healthcare workers. They work very closely with their brown-eyed bretheren and are known for being kind to a fault.
Brown: Firefighters and first responders; many of these people secretly feel lonely from their trauma. The suicide rate within this community is very high.
Black: Astronomers. The first person to discover life outside of Trion was an astronaut belonging to this group of people. Unfortunately, this profession is highly scrutinized by Queen Zircon, who set out to eliminate as many of these people as possible.
โ.เณเฟ*:๏ฝฅ known kingdoms / republics
---
Trion has four main Kingdoms/Republics - Dicio, Solum, Arietes, and Cervus.
1. Dicio - The Kingdom of Dicio is home to most of the Trionian population, especially with the emigration of Trionians from recently fallen kingdoms. A hierarchy has remained very strongly in place in Dicio, and anyone caught trying to break this system is severely punished. After the Saeki twins' broke this system themselves with the marriages to their respective partners (Maya Zesiro for James & Beleth for Jade), the current ruler, Queen Zircon, attempted to dispose of all of them. However, the Prince and Princess were able to escape, at the cost of Maya's life. Her death and Beleth's imprisonment marked the beginning of a very dark period of Dicioโs history, where families were torn apart, and many personal freedoms once taken for granted disappeared completely. The capital of Dicio is Fides, and requires one to pass multiple security checkpoints in order to get in.
2. Latebras, Solum, Trion - Although technically not a monarchy, Solum is recognized as a kingdom by Queen Zircon of Dicio. The inhabitants of Solum are indigenous individuals, who do not look much like the other Trionians. Their evolution has kept them close to the water, and their features resemble that of the aquatic life on the planet. Although previous kingdoms collaborated with them, the new Queen has repeatedly tried (and failed) to bring this kingdom to its demise. The capital is Latebras, although the area is much like the rest of the ' Kingdom. '
3. Arietes, Trion - Also known as The Fallen Kingdom. Although Arietes was brutally conquered by Queen Zircon of Dicio in the year 1763 (2014 in earthly years), when she murdered Princess Caspian Arkaday and her lover, Ezrell, it is said that the resistance has made a home for themselves in the ruins of the former capital, Levis, which once stood taller than Fides. Troops have been sent to inspect the ruins on multiple occasions, but have either mysteriously turned up dead, or have never returned at all. It is believed that the resistance plans to stage a coup and finally bring an end to Zirconโs blood-soaked reign, but will they make it to her before someone else does?
4. Cervus, Trion - Also known as the Fallen Kingdom of Cervus. Cervus fell long before Arietes, about a year after Zircon took the throne. The Kingdom had already been plagued with instability by the time she had taken throne. Spurred by curiosity, as well as a conquest for power, Zircon staged a coup where she overthrew the King at the time, Rhys. This Kingdom is more forgotten than Arietes, due to an already dwindling population and resources before its eventual toppling. The former capital, Striga, has become a training ground for Zircon's guards.
